This Dad Has a Cheesy Take on Baby Month-By-Month Photos
We’ve seen plenty of parents flex their creative muscles when it comes to tracking baby’s month-to-month growth. From elaborate flat-lays to random object comparisons (think: a bag of Doritos), some parents pull out all the stops to create Instagram-worthy monthly updates. Philadelphia-based dad Brad Williams was no exception. He started a unique tradition for tracking his son Lucas’ length that pays homage to his hometown. Yep, we’re talking cheesesteaks.
It all started in 2015 when Williams ordered cheesesteaks for dinner two weeks after baby Lucas was born. He noticed that the cheesesteak was about as long as Lucas and decided to snap a photo comparing the two.
After sharing the photo on Facebook to rave reviews, Williams decided to make the cheesesteak snap a monthly tradition.
“What started out as a joke turned into a monthly tradition of cheesesteak measuring as Lucas was growing,” Williams says on his blog, Cheesesteak for Scale.
In fact, Williams ordered a cheesesteak to use for the project every month for a year. But the tradition came to a halt shortly after Lucas turned 1.
“After his first year I decided to stop taking the monthly picture, mainly because Lucas was quickly growing a dislike for cheesesteaks,” Williams says.
Here’s hoping this Philly baby gets his taste buds on track once he gets the hang of solids!
