Real Housewives of Potomac’s Candiace Dillard Bassett Is Having a Boy

A Bassett baby boy is on the way!

Former Real Housewives of Potomac star Candiace Dillard Bassett and her husband, Chris Bassett, shared their sweet sex reveal with the world on September 3. “You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.” -2 Timothy 2:1,” the pair captioned a video of the reveal on Instagram.

In the video, the Bassetts sit on their kitchen floor blindfolded with a bowl of paint in between them. Initially shot in black and white, the video shows the blindfolded couple smearing the paint on each other’s white shirts. After a good smattering of paint, the two take off their blindfolds and the video flashes to color—showing blue paint all over!

“I started to feel a masculine energy,” Dillard Bassett told US Weekly. “I just couldn’t deny the feeling of a sweet little boy growing inside of me.” Bassett also told the outlet that she has been enjoying every minute of her pregnancy while excitedly getting ready for baby’s arrival by decorating his nursery. “It’s the most magical and indescribable experience,” she said. “I think I’m actually going to miss it, but I also can’t wait to meet him and stare at him all day!”

The couple, who have been open about their IVF journey over the past year, first told the world about their big baby news in April 2024. “I always wondered, like, how would I know when I was ready? And I always felt like a part of my anxiety was that I wasn’t sure that I would know, and when I knew, it was undeniable,” she shared with followers. “I kind of woke up and realized that I was never going to be 100 percent ready. I just had to … trust the process and trust my doctors and stop being afraid and just do it.”

Before announcing her pregnancy, Dillard Bassett shared the big news in March 2024 that she would not be returning for her seventh season of Real Housewives of Potomac. “As I embark on a new chapter after six remarkable years with The Real Housewives of Potomac, I am filled with gratitude for the enriching friendships, personal growth and moments of introspection that have defined this journey,” she shared with People. “With a whirlwind of new opportunities and responsibilities on my plate, I have decided to take a break from RHOP.”

The Bassetts tied the knot in 2018. Bassett, who has three children from a previous relationship, will be expecting his first with Dillard Bassett.
