Blake Lively on the Funny Cake She Made for Her Son's First Birthday

For years, Blake Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, have been known for their quick quips and hilarious jokes. Now, as they embrace being parents of four little ones—including 1-year-old Olin—they aren’t leaving that sense of fun behind.

In a recent interview with BBC Radio 2’s Zoe Ball, Lively opened up about the hilarious homemade cakes she makes for her children’s birthdays. “My birthday cakes always have a little bit of a sense of humor. For my baby, I just did a giant set of boobs. Which I feel will haunt him for life. But what do they want at 1? He can’t declare what he wants. So boobs,” Lively joked. “Because that’s what he wants at one,” Ball added with a laugh.

The Hollywood golden couple is generally tight-lipped about their family and chose not to publicly announce the arrival of their son Olin. Instead, Lively surprised friends and fans on Super Bowl Sunday in 2023 when after sporting a baby bump around town for most of her pregnancy she posted a photo revealing she no longer had a baby bump in tow. “Puppy Bowl Sunday 2023, been busy,” she simply wrote.

In July 2024 Reynolds finally revealed his son’s name to be Olin, a name of Nordic origin, that traditionally means “ancestor’s heir” or “to inherit.”

Both Reynolds and Lively have been open about how they balance their careers with parenting. While both had big blockbusters debut this year, in the past Reynolds opened up about his desire to step back from acting for a bit to spend more time with his daughters. “Now that they’re in school, they have a somewhat normal schedule,” Reynolds told People at the time. “I think it’s totally important for their development and I really enjoy being a present dad.”
