Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell Are Expecting Their First Child

Bindi Irwin, the 22-year-old daughter of late conservationist and TV personality Steve Irwin, has announced she and husband Chandler Powell are expecting their first child.

She shared the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday, August 11, writing in her caption, “Chandler and I are proud to announce that we’re expecting! It’s an honour to share this special moment in our lives with you. Though I’m still in my first trimester, we really want you to be part of our journey from the beginning of this new life chapter.”

She continued, “We couldn’t wait to share the news as this beautiful little being has become the most important part of our lives. Your support means the world to us. Please let me know your best advice and send good vibes & prayers to our little sweetheart. Love & light.”

Powell also shared the news on Twitter, writing that “becoming a dad is the highlight” of his life. “I cannot wait to embark on this new adventure and life chapter with my gorgeous wife. Bee, you’re going to be the most amazing mother,” Powell shared.

Several family members also shared the news, including Bindi’s mom, Terri. In her own Twitter post, Terrie wrote, “I am over the moon to announce that Bindi Irwin and Chandler Powell are going to have a baby! Words cannot express the love that is filling my heart. While I wish that Steve was here to share this beautiful moment, I know that he would be so proud.”

Steve Irwin, better known as “the Crocodile Hunter,” died at 44 in 2006 when a stingray barb went through his chest while filming a documentary. Like her father, Irwin is also a conservationist and married Powell in March of this year at her family’s venue at the Australia Zoo in Queensland.
