Photographer Mom Dresses Baby Up as Influential Women in History
A serious perk to having young babies: You can dress them up (and even pose them) however you want! And now that we have Instagram, there’s a place to show it all off. But one mom, who has been styling and photographing her baby as famous women in history, has just raised the bar.
Mom and photography enthusiast Jenelle Wexler was already enjoying taking photos of her 2-year-old son River, but when her daughter was born, she took it to the next level. The crafty mom, armed with a sewing machine, a hot glue gun and a surprising amount of energy for a new mother, creates costumes for 3-month-old Liberty that honor influential women who inspire her, and then posts them on Instagram in an adorable and hilarious series of photos.
“I wanted to bring attention to these women and their specific stories to show how important their actions were in shaping our current society for the better,” Wexler told TODAY. “I hope these are individuals Liberty herself chooses to admire and aspire to be like … great women who have helped make the world a better place for future women and people as a whole.”
The women Liberty has dressed up as truly run the gamut, from space explorers to sports legends, pop stars, political figures, art icons and more.
First American woman in space, Sally Ride
Artist Frida Kahlo, complete with signature unibrow
Pioneer aviator Amelia Earhart
“Like A Virgin”-era Madonna
Grand Slam Tennis Star Billie Jean King
Queen Elizabeth II
And of course, no list of inspirational women is complete without the Notorious RBG—Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Check out the rest of baby Liberty’s Instagram posts—you don’t want to miss out on her as Malala Yousafzai, Betsy Ross, Joan of Arc, Jane Goodall or Audrey Hepburn.
