This High-Tech Cushion Is Designed to Stop Your Baby From Crying
Part baby seat and part tummy time pillow, a new baby soothing device is part of what some parents claim is restoring their sanity. The Babocush is designed, above all, to reduce crying from colic. And the videos of it in action are pretty stinking cute.
As you can probably tell, the Babocush can be securely strapped to baby rockers, seats or swings—and 4moms is a perennial favorite. But on its own, this seat is pretty feature-packed, complete with a snug strap system, vibrations and a heartbeat sound to mimic being held by you. Plus, the semi-upright tummy time position is designed to prevent acid reflux, gas pain and flat head syndrome.
Still, it’s important to recognize what it is versus what it’s not. This is a soothing tool for babies up to 6 months old—not a sleeping environment.
“Do not let your baby sleep on the Babocush. Sleeping on their front can pose a suffocation risk and is thought to increase the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS),” the website reads. “Never ever leave your baby unattended on the Babocush. If you’re feeling frazzled and worn out, the Babocush can give you a short break to spend one-on-one time with the other children, eat dinner with both hands, drink a coffee while it’s still hot, go to the toilet or have a shower. Your baby can rest happily on the Babocush in the room with you.”
