Steph Curry and Ayesha Curry Welcome Baby No. 4
Curry party of six!
Ayesha Curry, the founder of Sweet July, and NBA star Stephen “Steph” Curry announced the arrival of their fourth child over Memorial Day Weekend on Instagram. “Our sweet baby boy decided to make an early arrival! He’s doing great and we are finally settling in at home as a family of 6! So grateful,” the couple captioned a black-and-white photo of their newborn’s tiny hand clasping Steph’s thumb.
The Curry’s also shared the name of their new son and birthdate, Caius Chai 5/11/24. Caius traditionally a boy’s name of latin orgin, means “rejoice,” “glad,” “delight,” and “pleased.” The happy parents’ friends, family and fellow celebrities were certainly pleased and delighted to hear of Caius’ arrival. Mom-to-be Hailey Bieber sent her congratulations in the comments alongside stars like Trae Young, Justin Timberlake, Tamera Mowry and Russell Wilson.
Ayesha Curry first announced she was expecting on the cover of her lifestyle and skincare brand’s new digital issue. Wearing only a beige blazer and white bra, the mom of four had her bump on full display as she lounged across three wooden chairs adorned in red fabric.
“For so many years, Stephen and I thought we were done. We said, ‘Three, that’s it, we’re not doing this again.’ And then, last year, we looked at each other and agreed we wanted to do this again,” Curry wrote in the Sweet July Magazine. “For me, the decision came from always finding myself looking around and feeling like somebody was missing…So we set out on this journey, knowing that this would complete our family.”
Within the cover feature, Curry outlines her “fourth act” and how this pregnancy differs from her prior three. Notably, while she’s now “tremendously busy” with three older children, Riley, 11, and Ryan, 8, and Canon, 5, each with their own busy schedules, she’s trying to appreciate her last pregnancy even more, especially with how quickly time goes by. “I’m also realizing how quickly time has gone by with our first three children, who are now self-sufficient and don’t need as much from us,” she added.
The 34-year-old also noted that she’d been put off by the harsh terms used by doctors to describe her latest pregnancy. From referring to it as a “geriatric pregnancy” to the general consensus that having a baby in your mid-thirties to forties makes you “old,” Curry hopes that the narrative around later-in-life pregnancies will continue to change.
As far as cravings go, the cookbook author said this time, she craved watermelon, Japanese peaches and even had a “three-week stint with a very unhealthy sausage, egg and cheese McGriddle.” Curry also ruminated on how she kept the public and others a little more in the dark during this pregnancy, partly to “protect her peace and energy” and partly to hone into what she felt was best for her and baby. “This is such a sacred time in life that I know I’m never going to get back so I’m being a little selfish. I’m keeping some things to myself,” she said.
Curry is quick to note that while she may keeping her pregnancy a little more under wraps this time around, the doesn’t mean she’s closing herself off to her close community. “I didn’t always want the village. I was really stubborn in my earlier pregnancies. And that hurt me in the end. It made things really hard on me,” she said. “I had to learn to put my pride aside and realize it was okay to take help, to have people around me help and to not shy away from it. And I’m still trying to figure out what building my village looks like. I feel like it’s never complete, right?”
Our best wishes to Currys on their new family of six!
