The Bump
About This Appointment
You’re at the finish line! (That is, unless baby decides to stay snug and cozy inside for another few days.) As long as there’s plenty of amniotic fluid and both you and baby are faring well, your provider may let you go to 41 or possibly even 42 weeks—but expect frequent monitoring and checkups while you wait. You might even be sent for a nonstress test or biophysical profile.
What to Know
You’ll do a urine test and get your blood pressure and weight checked.
Your provider will listen to baby’s heartbeat.
Your provider will feel and measure your belly (check your fundal height).
Your doctor may check your cervix for signs of labor.
You may have a non-stress test and/or a biophysical profile.
What to Ask

3. How many more days can I go before you induce?
4. Do I need to do any other tests now?
5. If I go past my due date, how frequently do you want to see me?
