Sheila is a girl's name of Irish origin enveloped in Roman mythos. Also spelled Síle, Sheila is thought to be a feminine variation of the Latin name Caelius which means "heavenly." However, its most widely understood as an Old Irish variation of Cecilia, linking it to the Roman family name Caecilius. Meaning "blind one," the title serves as an homage to the ancient family's ancestor Caeculus—the mythological son of the fire god Vulcan. Born from one of Vulcan's sparks, the youth was said to hold great mastery over flame though the smoke inevitably damaged his eyes. While Caeculus may have been blinded by his passion, little Sheila has the insight to enjoy a more peaceful existence to set their heart aglow.
