Shane

Shane has certifiable Irish roots, but it has some cowboy in him, too, thanks to a 1953 Wild West movie of the same name. Shane stems from the Irish name Seán, which in turn comes from the Hebrew name John, meaning "God is gracious." Though it’s considered gender-neutral, there are far more boys called Shane than girls. For this reason, it makes for a fresh and modern take when gifted to beautiful baby girls. Variations for both sexes include Shawn, Seán, Shayne, Shannon, and Shana.
