Ovidiu is a Romanian boy’s name. Derived from the Latin name ovidius, it is meant to refer to a “shepherd” or “Ovid the Poet,” who lived during the reign of Augustus. Ovid was a contemporary of Virgil and Horace, and together they were the three canonical poets of Latin literature.
