Nigellus

Nigellus has two very distinct meanings and origins. It derives from the Latin title Nigel, which means “black.” There is also evidence to suggest Nigellus is also of Irish origin. It is an anglicized version of Néill, which is potentially derived from the Gaelic terms nél, meaning “cloud,” or niadh, meaning “champion.” The moniker has a Latin look and sound, giving it an ancient allure.
