Marcina

Marcina is a girl’s name of Latin origin. As an alternative to Marcene, it’s understood as “dedicated to Mars.” The Mars in question is not the fourth planet and potentially the next Earth, but the Roman god of war. The son of Jupiter, again not a planetary reference, and Juno, Mars is also hailed as an agricultural guardian, a combination characteristic of early Rome. Most of the festivals in his honor are celebrated in March, the month named after him, and in October, the months which traditionally began and ended the season for both military campaigning and farming.
