Mala is a girl’s name of Hebrew origin. The feminine title is often associated with Mary Magdalene and means “from Magdala,” “great,” “elegant,” and “tower.” Mala also has Germanic origins, stemming from the element maginą, meaning “strength” or “power.” Mala has Hindi roots, too, where it means “necklace,” referring to the beads used in meditation and sacred prayer.
