Maaja

Maaja is an Estonian version of the feminine name Maia. In Greek, this title means “good mother,” “dame,” and “foster mother” and is connected to the mythological nymph Maia. She is the eldest of the stars that make up the Pleiades constellation and is known for secretly giving birth to Hermes, a son she had with Zeus. Within Roman mythology, Maia is known as the goddess of fertility, endowing the name with the meaning “she who brings increase.” With ties to creation and the celestial, baby Maaja may shine their brightest while nurturing a craft or providing comfort to others.
