Jossalyn is a gender-neutral name of Germanic and French origins and is a variant of Jocelyn or Joselyn. The name evolved from the root Gutô to the German Gautselin, meaning “a member of the German tribe, the Gauts.” Though the word Goths brings to mind the modern subculture, this ancient tribe brought about the downfall of the Roman Empire, marking the beginning of the medieval era of European history.
