Jordaan

Derived from yarden and yarad, Jordaan is a boy’s name of Hebrew origin. It directly refers to the river Jordan and its downwards declivity has lend itself to the meaning “down-flowing.” The river is steeped in religious significance, so much so that pilgrims would bring flasks of water from the river to use it to christen their children.
