Jahnessa

Every time baby hears their name, Jahnessa, they’ll be reminded of the two titles hidden within their one incredible name. A typically feminine moniker, Jahnessa is created by allowing two names, Jahn and Vanessa, to intertwine. As a variant of Jan or Jane, Jahn derives from the Hebrew Yochanan, meaning “Yahweh is gracious.” If the name Vanessa sounds simply poetic to you, don’t be surprised, as it first appeared in “Cadenus and Vanessa,” a poem by Irish author Jonathan Swift. Swift invented Vanessa by combining the initial syllables of his friend, Esther Vanhomrigh’s, first and last name. Perhaps little Jahnessa will also be a wordsmith in the making, using their gift for words to tell stories, communicate their ideas, and give encouragement to others.
