Finella

The name Finella has somewhat of a mystical aura, perfect for babies who have an otherworldly presence. Typically feminine, it boasts Irish roots and a sense of regality. It is derived from the name Finnguala which is composed of the elements fionn, meaning “white” or “fair,” and guala meaning “shoulder,” giving Finella the definition of “white shoulder.” In Irish mythology, Finnguala was the daughter of the sea god Lir of the Tuatha Dé Danann, which some might recognize from the Irish legend of the Children of Lir. In this legend, Finnguala and her siblings were cursed and turned into swans to wander the open waters of Ireland, which just might help encourage a little adventurer in baby.
