Ewa

Ewa, possibly derived from Evie, is a Hungarian, Polish, and German form of the Hebrew and Latin Eve. This choice adds a sentimental touch, especially for families with Eastern European heritage. Eve, famously the name of the first woman in the Old Testament, is considered by many Christians to be the mother of humanity. As a Latinized form of the Hebrew Hawaah, Eve, and by extension, Ewa, means "a living being," derived from the root hawa, which translates to "to live" or "to breathe." Given Ewa and Eve's similarity to the English noun eve, Ewa could suggest an affinity for the peaceful close of day—from sharing a family dinner to watching the sun dip below the horizon.
