Clöwy is a Swiss feminine name. A unique variant of Chloe, it's derived from Ancient Greek to mean “blooming, young green shoot” and “green foliage.” This may be from a spring festival called Chloeia, which was usually celebrated on the 6th and 7th of May in Old Athens in honor of Demeter, the Greek goddess of harvest. It’s likely the Swiss were introduced to the Greek texts soon after the Napoleonic Wars. So if your little one was born on either of those days, it’s just fitting that you choose the name Clöwy.
