Cimarron

Cimarron is a gender-neutral name of Spanish origin, meaning “wild, untamed.” It’s the name of a county and a river in Oklahoma. It was also the name of a group of Africans in Panama who escaped slavery and lived together in defiance of Spanish colonial rule. In the 1570s, they allied with Sir Francis Drake of England to try to defeat the Spanish.
