Chander

At first glance, Chander might bring to mind the joke-cracking, sarcastic, yet lovable Chandler Bing from Friends, but this name has an identity all of its own! Chander has its roots in Hindi where it's associated with the celestial object of stargazing, spirituality, mythology, and mysticism—the moon. Most commonly used in the northern states of India, Chander is derived from the Sanskrit चन्द (cand) or čandra, which translates to "pleasant," "shining," or simply, "moon." In Hindu mythology, Chander represents the Moon God known as Chandra, who presides over Monday, making it an especially excellent choice for a child born on that day.
