Brogyn

As Nancy Sinatra once said, "These boots are made for walking," and little Brogyn will always know the right places to venture in their tiny baby boots! Brogyn is a feminine twist on the Irish Brogan, meaning "heavy work shoe." Modern Irish speakers may recognize its roots in bróg, the Irish word for "shoe." The playful addition of a "y" (a letter not found in the Irish alphabet) gives Brogyn an English or American flair to this Irish-inspired name. True to its shoe-centric origins, Brogyn is probably a variant of Brogan, which is both a given name and a nod to the Irish surname Ó Brógáin and a term for a sturdy half-boot first recorded in 1846. What a fun way to remind baby that the right shoes can take them far in life—and at the very least, you'll always know what to get them for their birthday: a fresh new pair of shoes!
