Balthasar

Balthasar is a boy's name, whose ringing biblical sound is sure to leave a lasting impression on all who hear its call. A variant of the Hebrew Belshatzzar, Balthasar means "Baʽal protects the king_" aligning the title to all manners of ancient gods—most notably the god of storms and fertility. In its original Balthazar, Balthasar is noted as one of the three wise men (known as the magi) who brought gifts to the newborn Jesus. In Shakespeare's _Romeo and Juliet, Balthasar's tidings bear more tragic fruit, as his news of Juliet's death seals the faith of the star-crossed lovers.
