Awilda

Have baby share a name with the legendary pirate Awilda, a feminine title of Germanic origin. Derived from Alfhild, lyrical Awilda means “elf battle” and has a beach of a backstory. Borne by a legendary Gothic princess, Awilda escaped an arranged marriage to the prince of Denmark. Fleeing to the high seas, she commandeered a boat and became the captain of another pirate ship. Sometimes interpreted as “untamed,” Awilda is for the baby whose swashbuckling spirit cannot be quelled.
