Aude is a girl’s name of French origin, meaning "old" or "noble." In the medieval French tales known as the Charlemagne romances, Aude La Belle was the beloved of Roland. Aude is also the name of a department in southern France, called after the river Aude. Situated between the Mediterranean Sea and the Pyrenees Mountains, and home to the medieval citadel of Carcassonne, this beautiful place is a worthy namesake. Needless to say, baby Aude will be too!
