Adriene

Adriene is a girl’s name full of charm and poise. As the counterpart of Adrien, it goes on to mean “from the city Adria.” Once an ancient land filled with intrigue and mystique, several theories still abound regarding Adria’s etymology. The general consensus is, however, that it comes from the Venetian word for “water” and “sea,” as is consistent with its usage in Adriatic Sea. One of the moniker’s best-known namesakes remains Adrienne Bolland, the first woman to fly over the Andes between Chile and Argentina and consequently, “France’s most accomplished female aviator.” So no, far from having their head in the clouds, baby Adriene will feel all the more inspired to soar high and be known from sea to shining sea.
