Mary Kate is a content writer responsible for researching names and creating fun and informative descriptions. She loves trying to devise poetic little ways to tie words and their meanings together in a pleasing harmony. In her spare time, Mary Kate can be found reading, swimming, or heading on an adventure.

Education

Mary Kate followed her passion for writing to an undergraduate degree at the University of Galway, Ireland. Here, she had the opportunity to work on independent writing projects, such as completing a poetry portfolio and starting her novel. She was awarded two scholarships for her academic achievements throughout her degree and finished with a first-class honours result. She adores writing and carries a notebook and pen wherever she goes. She experienced the joy of seeing her poems printed in local literary magazines and hopes to be a published author one day.

Experience

Before making her way to The Knot Worldwide and The Bump, Mary Kate continued her education and became certified to teach English to speakers of other languages. She moved to the beautiful island of Phuket in Thailand and taught English at a secondary school there. Although she fell in love with the people, culture, food and beautiful scenery there, her heart itched for a different career path. She returned to Ireland to follow her passion and joined the TKWW team in Galway in September 2023.
